A massive visual upgrade to the geopolitical map, smoother player onboarding, and continued growth across the server.
Day 6 Update
Today marks another major leap forward for Globeworks’ geopolitical systems — and this time, the improvements are visible right on the world map. The Diplomacy plugin received a substantial overhaul, and with it came one of the most powerful features we’ve added so far: interactive nation relations directly on the map.
A Smarter, Political Map
The map at https://map.globeworks.uk now understands diplomacy.
When you click on the boundary of a nation (not the town flag), the popup will show:
- That nation’s allies
- That nation’s enemies
And the map reacts instantly:
- Selected nation → green
- Allies → blue
- Enemies → red
- Neutral nations → grey
This required a significant update to MapTowny, Squaremap, and a small extension to the Diplomacy module itself. It was a deep technical effort — but the payoff is huge. The map now acts like a true geopolitical interface, not just a viewer.
Player Data Fixes
A couple of issues cropped up with player data syncing, so we’ve adjusted a configuration to ensure everything stays consistent and stable. Nothing dramatic, but important housekeeping.
Starter Grant Improvements
Players weren’t consistently receiving the starter grant in the lobby. We’ve moved this system to the Earth map instead.
Now, when a brand‑new player joins the Earth world:
- They receive $10,000
- And a single‑use Keep Inventory token
This gives newcomers a fighting chance during those fragile early days.
Growing Playerbase
Every day, more players discover Globeworks — and a huge part of that is thanks to the community. The promotional videos, YouTube content, and word‑of‑mouth recommendations are making a real impact. The world feels more alive with each passing day.
Globeworks Is Not “Just Another Towny Server”
We hope players can see what we’re building here. Globeworks isn’t a generic Towny server with an economy bolted on. It’s a persistent geopolitical Minecraft world, powered by a growing ecosystem of custom systems, mechanics, and features that simply don’t exist anywhere else.
And that’s everything for Day 6 — onwards to Day 7.
