One week after launch, Globeworks is alive, expanding, and steadily evolving with new features and new faces.

Day 7 Update

A week ago we were preparing for launch — today, Globeworks is live, active, and growing every single day. Player numbers continue to rise, with 9 concurrent players online today and 35 unique players having joined so far. The world is filling out: 13 towns have already been established across multiple nations, and yet there is still an enormous amount of land waiting for new settlers.

Large regions remain untouched — most of Russia, Australia, South America, big stretches of North America, and almost all of Africa. Europe remains the most densely settled region, but the rest of the world is wide open for new nations, new towns, and new stories.

Diplomacy continues to evolve, too. Alliances are forming through the Globeworks‑exclusive diplomacy system, and one “war” has been recorded — not a real conflict, but a test to ensure everything was functioning correctly. Introducing MapLink

Today we added a brand‑new bespoke plugin: MapLink. It’s simple but incredibly useful — players can now run:

/map

This command returns a hyperlink that opens the world map positioned exactly at your current coordinates. It’s a small addition that makes navigating and sharing locations far easier.

Major Improvements to LecternScanners

Another Globeworks‑exclusive plugin, LecternScanners, received a major upgrade today. In addition to scanning passports and tickets, it now includes a printer mode.

With printer mode, you can:

  • Create a second lectern
  • Configure it as a printer
  • Reprint tickets or passports
  • Make final edits
  • Sign the document

Each printed item receives a unique ID, allowing you to revoke passports or tickets if needed. The printer stores a large number of IDs, but if you’re producing many documents, you may want to archive copies in a vault or chest. Any revoked document will automatically fail scanning.

Database Tuning

We encountered some minor MySQL issues related to connection counts. These have been tuned, and we’ll continue monitoring and adjusting as needed to ensure smooth performance.

New Staff Page

We’ve added a staff page to the website:
https://globeworks.uk/staff.html

This makes it easier for players to find moderators both in‑game and on Discord.

Welcome Back Fix

The “welcome back” reward system had a small issue, but it’s now fixed — players can once again earn cash by welcoming returning users.

A Note to Earthora Players

In other news, Earthora, another SMP server, has closed down. If any former Earthora players are looking for a new home, Globeworks has plenty of space and a friendly, active community ready to welcome you.

That’s everything for Day 7 — onward to Day 8 as Globeworks continues to grow.
