A quieter day on the surface, but behind the scenes Globeworks continues to evolve with powerful new tools and community moments.
Day 9 Update
Sunday is traditionally a day of rest — and while development slowed down a little, Globeworks certainly didn’t stand still. Work continued across several systems, most notably the ongoing expansion of our LecternScanners plugin, which has quickly become one of the most versatile tools in the Globeworks ecosystem.
Self‑Service Printing Arrives
A major new feature has landed: self‑service sell mode. This update transforms ordinary lecterns into automated kiosks capable of selling tickets, passports, visas, transport passes, and more — all without staff intervention.
With sell mode enabled, a lectern printer becomes a fully autonomous point‑of‑sale:
- Players right‑click the lectern
- Confirm the purchase
- Pay via Vault economy
- Instantly receive a personalised, placeholder‑powered document
Owners can optionally receive sale notifications, making this ideal for busy stations, toll booths, border gates, or event venues.
New Gameplay Systems Enabled
Self‑service printing opens the door to a wide range of automated infrastructure across Towny, Earth, and roleplay servers:
- Transport networks: Metro and train stations can sell tickets automatically, validated at platforms by scanners.
- Event ticketing: Concerts, festivals, and fairs can run unattended box offices with signed, tamper‑proof tickets.
- Border control: Nations can issue passports or visas, with scanners verifying or revoking documents at gates.
- Toll roads: Roadside kiosks can sell day passes or single‑use tickets for bridges and highways.
- Town services: Mayors can sell visas; guild halls can issue membership cards; courts can issue warrants.
These systems work because scanners validate exact page patterns, while printers generate personalised documents using placeholders such as %player%, %townyadvanced_town%, and %guid%.
Support of Older versions and Security Filter Improvements
We’ve also updated our custom security filter, adding additional checks and expanding compatibility. Players using versions 1.21.11 through to 26.2 can now connect successfully.
However, we strongly recommend upgrading to 26.2. If issues occur on older versions and cannot be reproduced on 26.2, we will not be able to fix them. Older versions also miss out on newer blocks and features.
Community Football Event
We hosted another community event today — this time involving football. It quickly became clear that the barriers around the pitch need to be higher, as the ball kept getting launched over them! Attendance was smaller than hoped, likely due to the late Sunday UTC timing, but those who came made it fun regardless.
Opening of the New Event Hall
We also unveiled the brand‑new Event Hall, opened with speeches, live music across the entire area, and a great community atmosphere. Huge thanks to Bedaz, Predawn, Silent, SammyPembo, and dpembo for being there and helping make the event lively and enjoyable.
That wraps up Day 9 — a quieter day, but still full of progress, new systems, and community spirit as Globeworks continues to grow.
