Server upgrades, new protections, website improvements and the countdown to the end of our Halloween event.
Update
We continue our drive toward moving the entire Globeworks network to version 26.3, and you will notice some downtime here and there as we begin the cutover. We will start with the spawn server, followed by the earth server. We apologise in advance if this interrupts your gameplay, but this upgrade is essential — not only because of the recent Bedrock changes, but also because 26.4 beta is already available.
Behind the scenes we have been extremely busy, not just building our own plugins, but also editing and submitting PRs to several popular plugins to help push forward the changes required for 26.3. Many of these updates also improve server quality, especially for plugins that rely on external databases.
What Has Changed Recently
1. Spawn Protection Fix
We discovered that someone had claimed a Towny town at the default spawn point, which is not allowed. Nobody should be able to control the global spawn.
We removed the claim and built a new plugin that prevents Towny claims within a defined radius of a centre point. This ensures the spawn area remains permanently unclaimed.
2. Admin Tools Improved
We updated our admin tool suite to allow staff to manage the server more easily from mobile devices, while still maintaining our strict security and access policies.
3. Penetration Testing Completed
Along with this, we performed a full round of penetration testing on the servers. Very few issues were found, and the minor ones which existed have already been corrected. We will continue running these tests regularly to ensure the community remains safe.
4. In Game Support Tickets
This is a big one.
With the scale of changes involved in moving to 26.3, we expect some issues may slip through unnoticed. To help players report problems easily, we built another Globeworks unique plugin that allows players to raise and manage support tickets in game.
It integrates directly with Discord, where staff process the tickets.
Just type:
/ticket
and a clean GUI opens instantly.
5. Website Tweaks
We improved several areas of the website.
One major update is the live player list at:
https://globeworks.uk/players.html
It now looks stunning when many players are online, showing player heads, towns and nation affiliations.
6. Restart Process Improvements
We enhanced the restart system to keep players fully informed.
When a server restarts, players now see:
- In game notifications
- ETA
- Countdown
- Website updates
This makes restarts far clearer and less disruptive.
7. Many Plugin Updates Ready for Deployment
We have a large batch of plugin updates prepared but not yet deployed. These will roll out over the next week or two as we carefully cut over to 26.3.
If you find any issues, please raise them via the in game ticket system or Discord.
We aim to keep downtime as minimal as possible.
Halloween Event Nearing Its End
We are just under a week away from the end of our Halloween event. It has been a huge success, with players spooked, thrilled and occasionally terrified — loving and hating it at the same time.
If you want to experience it, join before the end of the month.
More updates are coming — Globeworks continues to evolve at full speed. As many other popular servers fall to the side, we stand large and continue to grow
