Bedrock players will need an updated connection method to join servers after 27 October 2026, and we are already preparing for the change.
What Is Changing?
Minecraft Bedrock Edition version 26.60 (planned for 27 October 2026) will stop using the old RakNet connection method. From that point onward, all Bedrock servers must use the new NetherNet system to accept players.
This is a change from Mojang, not something we control. Servers that do not update will no longer be joinable by Bedrock clients after the update.
What This Means for You
- Before 27 October: You can continue joining as normal.
- After 27 October: You will need a Bedrock client that is version 26.40 or newer to join servers that have switched over.
- Your existing server entry (IP and port) should continue to work once we finish the switch. You should not need to change anything in your server list.
What We Are Doing
We are already preparing our server for NetherNet. During the transition period we will support both the old RakNet method and the new NetherNet method so that players on older and newer Bedrock versions can still join.
Once the 26.60 update is out and most players have updated, we will fully switch to NetherNet.
What You Should Do
- Keep your Minecraft Bedrock client updated.
- After 27 October, if you cannot join, make sure you are on the latest Bedrock version and try again.
- No changes are needed to your saved server entry.
We will post another update once the full switch is complete. If you run into any connection issues after the update, let us know in the usual places and we will help.
