Capture Net Player Guide

Catch certain mobs with a Safari Net, store them as an item, carry them around, trade them, or release them later — all without leading them on a lead for miles.

The Basics

A Capture Net (also called a Safari Net) lets you catch allowed creatures and turn them into an item you can put in your inventory, a chest, or trade with other players.

What you doWhat happens
Throw the netAim at an allowed mob and right-click to throw. If the catch succeeds, the mob disappears and a special item drops.
Pick up the itemThe captured mob becomes a skull-style item that stores all of its details (name, type, colours, inventory, etc.).
Release laterHold the captured-mob item and right-click the ground to place the creature back into the world exactly as it was.

Not every creature can be caught — only the types the server has enabled. If a throw fails or the mob isn’t allowed, the net simply falls to the ground (or is used up, depending on the net type).

How to Catch a Mob
  1. Get a Capture Net from the point shop.
  2. Hold the net in your hand.
  3. Look at the creature you want to catch and right-click to throw the net.
  4. If the catch succeeds you’ll hear a success sound and a special item will drop where the mob was.
  5. Pick the item up. Hover over it to see the stored creature’s details.

Good to know:

  • You can only catch creatures the server has marked as catchable.
  • Claimed land and protection plugins may stop you from catching (or releasing) in areas you don’t have permission for.
  • Tamed animals may have extra rules — some servers only allow catching ownerless ones.
The Captured-Mob Item

Once caught, the creature becomes a special item (usually shown as a head/skull). Everything important about that specific mob is saved on the item:

  • Type of creature
  • Custom name (if it had one)
  • Colours, patterns, age, health, and similar traits
  • Any inventory the mob was carrying

You can put the item in a chest, carry it in your inventory, or trade it with other players. When you’re ready, right-click the ground while holding it to release the creature exactly as it was when you caught it.

How to Release
  1. Hold the captured-mob item in your hand.
  2. Look at a suitable block of ground.
  3. Right-click to release the creature.

The mob appears at the spot you clicked, with all of its previous data intact. The item is consumed when you release it.

Getting Capture Nets

How you obtain nets depends on the server setup.

  • Receiving them from shops, quests, or other server rewards

Check the server’s shops, or ask other players if you’re not sure how to get one.

Quick Reference
  • Catch: Hold a Capture Net → right-click a catchable mob → pick up the special item that drops.
  • Store / trade: Keep the item in your inventory or a chest, or give it to another player.
  • Release: Hold the captured-mob item → right-click the ground.
Tips
  • Only throw at creatures you know are allowed — wasted throws still use the net.
  • Read the item’s description after catching so you know exactly what you’re carrying.
  • Be careful releasing in busy or protected areas; some claims may prevent it.
  • Captured mobs make moving animals across long distances much easier than using leads.
  • You can trade rare or specially named creatures with other players by trading the item itself.
