Item Mail Guide
Send items to other players without meeting up. Package them by command, or use a physical mailbox on your land. Recipients open mail from their inbox or at a mailbox block.
Item Mail lets you ship blocks and items to another player. You fill a send window, they get a notification, then they open the package and accept or deny it.
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| You send | Open the send GUI, put items in, confirm. A cost may be charged. |
| They are notified | Chat, title, or toast tells them new mail has arrived. |
| They open | From the virtual inbox by ID, or at a physical mailbox block. |
| Accept or deny | Accepted items go to them; denied mail is closed per server rules. |
- Run the send command with their name (and an optional label):
- /mailitem <player>Open the send window for that player
- /mailitem Steve Happy birthday!Same, with a short label on the package
- A chest-style GUI opens. Put the items you want to send into it.
- Close or confirm through the UI to send.
- If economy is enabled, the send cost is taken from your balance when the mail goes out.
Good to know:
- You cannot mail items to yourself (unless staff bypass is used).
- Custom items are supported the same as normal ones.
- Aliases: /mit works like /mailitem.
When someone sends you items, you get a notification. Then:
Virtual inbox (commands)
- /itemmail listList your mail (IDs, status, sender, label)
- /itemmail open <id>Open a specific mail by its number
- /itemmailWith no args, often opens the first pending mail or shows help
- Run /itemmail list and note the ID of the pending package.
- Run /itemmail open <id>.
- In the open GUI, accept to take the items, or deny to refuse the package.
Physical mailbox
If you (or someone else) has placed a mailbox block, you can interact with it to handle mail there as well, subject to permission and land protection.
Good to know:
- Mail statuses are typically pending → accepted or denied.
- You can delete mail you no longer need with /itemmail delete <id>.
- Aliases: /ima and /imail work like /itemmail.
Sending mail may cost money, depending on server settings.
- /itemmail priceShow the current send cost
The server can charge either:
- A flat fee per mail package, or
- Per item (cost × number of items in the package)
Exact amounts are set by the server. You need enough balance when you confirm the send, or the mail will not go out. Receiving and opening mail is free.
Physical mailboxes are special shulker-box style blocks. Place one at your town, shop, or base so people can interact with mail there.
Craft a mailbox
Default recipe (if crafting is enabled):
| Left | Middle | Right | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Top | Stone | Stone | Stone |
| Middle | Stone | Chest | Stone |
| Bottom | Stone | Iron ingot | Stone |
Result: a special white shulker-style mailbox item.
Place it
- Hold the mailbox item.
- Place it like a normal block on your land (you need place permission for mailboxes).
- Others with use permission can interact with it under normal claim/protection rules.
Optional: recolour
- /itemmail color <color>Recolor the mailbox item in your hand (shulker colours)
Find your mailboxes
- /itemmail blocksList the coordinates of mailboxes you have placed
Good to know:
- Breaking your own mailbox needs break permission; others usually cannot break yours without special bypass.
- Land protection (Towny, claims, etc.) still applies — place it where visitors are allowed to interact if you want public use.
- On multi-server setups, mailbox blocks are tied to the server they were placed on.
- /itemmail helpList player commands
- /itemmail infoYour mail stats (sent/received, ban status if any)
- /itemmail delete <id>Delete one of your mails
- /itemmail priceShow send cost
- /mailitem <player> [label]Send items to a player
- /itemmail listList your mail
- /itemmail open <id>Open a mail by ID
- /itemmail delete <id>Delete a mail
- /itemmail priceShow send cost
- /itemmail blocksList your placed mailbox locations
- /itemmail color <color>Recolor mailbox item in hand
- Check /itemmail price before filling a large package so you know the cost.
- Use a short label (e.g. “Event prize”) so the recipient knows what the mail is for.
- Open pending mail promptly — keep inventory space free to accept packages.
- Put a mailbox at your shop or town spawn if you want people to send you items easily.
- If a send fails, check your balance and that the player name is correct and not banned from mail.
