Globeworks BADGE

Security Scanner Guide

Press a button to have your inventory checked. Pass, and a door or gate can open. Fail, and you need to store or drop the banned items before trying again.

The Basics

Security scanners are special buttons. Right-click one and it checks your inventory (main inventory, hotbar, armour, and offhand) for items the owner has marked as not allowed.

ResultWhat happens
PassSuccess sound and particles. A linked door, gate, or redstone circuit can open.
FailFail sound and particles. No door opens. You need to remove or store the banned items and try again.

There is no walk-through beam and no automatic teleport — you always press the button yourself.

How to Use a Scanner
  1. Empty or store anything that might be banned for that checkpoint (weapons, explosives, etc., depending on the scanner).
  2. Stand at the scanner and right-click the button.
  3. Watch for the pass or fail effect.
  4. If you passed, walk through while the door or gate is open.
  5. If you failed, put the problem items in a chest or ender chest, then press the button again.

Good to know:

  • There may be a short cooldown before you can scan again at the same button.
  • Shulker boxes count as the box item itself — what is inside them is not scanned.
  • Some scanners are set to “any item” mode: you must be completely empty to pass.
  • Staff with bypass permission are not checked.
Common Places You’ll See Them
PlaceTypical rule
Airport / terminalNo weapons or explosives before boarding or entering a secure zone.
Event entranceNo weapons (or no items at all) so the venue stays safe.
Vault or bankStrict list — or empty inventory — before the vault door opens.
Government / embassyWeapons and certain tools blocked at the door.
How to Create an Airport Scanner

If you run an airport, terminal, or secure building and have the right permission, you can set up a weapons-style checkpoint.

1. Place the button

Put a button where players will scan — for example on a lectern post, wall, or stand next to the security lane.

2. Create the scanner

  1. Look at the button.
  2. Run:
  • /sd create airport_securityCreates a scanner on that button (use any name you like)

3. Choose which items are banned

  1. Run:
  • /sd setitems airport_securityOpens the detected-items GUI
  1. Place the items you want to block into the GUI — for example swords, bows, crossbows, tridents, TNT, and other weapons or explosives.
  2. Save and close.

Leave “any item” mode off for a normal airport: players can keep food, tools, and building blocks; only the listed items cause a fail.

4. Link a door or gate

  1. Build your iron door, piston gate, or other redstone mechanism near the button.
  2. Look at the block that should receive power (within a few blocks of the button).
  3. Run:
  • /sd setoutput airport_securitySets the redstone output to the block you are looking at

5. Optional timing

  • /sd setduration airport_security 80How long the redstone stays on (in ticks; 80 ≈ 4 seconds)
  • /sd setcooldown airport_security 10Seconds before the same player can scan again

6. Turn it on

  • /sd enable airport_securityActivates the scanner

Players right-click the button → pass opens the gate → fail keeps it closed until they store the banned items.

How to Create an Event Entry Scanner

Useful for concerts, festivals, or any venue where you want a no-weapons (or empty-inventory) door.

Option A — No weapons only

Same steps as the airport scanner, but name it for the event and only put weapons in the items GUI:

  • /sd create festival_gateCreate on the entry button
  • /sd setitems festival_gateAdd swords, bows, axes used as weapons, etc. → Save
  • /sd setoutput festival_gateLook at the door/gate redstone block
  • /sd enable festival_gateTurn it on

Option B — Completely empty inventory

For a strict “leave everything in a locker” entry:

  1. Create the scanner on the entry button as above.
  2. Open the items GUI with /sd setitems festival_gate.
  3. Turn Any-Item mode on in that GUI.
  4. Save, set the output, and enable.

With Any-Item mode, the scan fails if the player is carrying anything at all. They must empty inventory, armour, and offhand (for example into a locker chest) before the gate will open.

Event tip:

  • Put a row of chests or ender-chest lockers before the scanner so guests can store gear.
  • A short cooldown (5–10 seconds) stops people from spamming the button.
  • Breaking the button removes the scanner — protect it if grief is a risk.
Owner Commands (Quick Reference)
  • /sd create <name>Create scanner on the button you look at
  • /sd setitems <name>Open the banned-items GUI (and Any-Item toggle)
  • /sd setoutput <name>Set redstone output to the block you look at
  • /sd setduration <name> <ticks>How long the output stays powered
  • /sd setcooldown <name> <seconds>Per-player scan cooldown
  • /sd enable <name>Turn the scanner on
  • /sd disable <name>Turn the scanner off
  • /sd info <name>Show scanner details
  • /sd listList your scanners
  • /sd scans <name>Last 10 scans (includes items found on fail)
  • /sd delete <name>Remove a scanner

Aliases: /securitydetector, /sd, /secscan.

Quick Reference
  • Use: Right-click the scanner button.
  • Pass: Sound/particles + door or gate can open.
  • Fail: Sound/particles only — store banned items and try again.
  • Any-Item mode: Inventory must be completely empty to pass.
  • Shulkers: Only the box itself is checked, not its contents.
Tips
  • If you fail, check armour and offhand as well as the main inventory.
  • Put lockers or chests just before the scanner so people can store gear quickly.
  • Owners: start with a short weapons list for airports; use Any-Item only when you truly want empty hands.
  • Owners: keep the output block close to the button (within the server’s allowed radius).
  • Owners: use /sd scans after an event to see what items caused fails.
