Welcome Back Player Guide
Say hello to players when they join or return. Type a simple command, send a friendly message, and both of you can earn a small reward.
When a player joins the server (or comes back after being away), a short welcome window opens. During that time anyone online can welcome them.
| What happens | Details |
|---|---|
| Player joins | A message appears in chat telling everyone a new (or returning) player has arrived. |
| Welcome window | You have a short time (default 15 seconds) to run the welcome command. |
| You type /wb | A random friendly message is sent in chat as if you typed it, and rewards can be given. |
| First-time vs returning | New players get a different set of messages (and usually a bigger reward) than players who have been here before. |
You can welcome the same joining player only once per join. After the window closes, the chance is gone until they join again.
As soon as you see the join announcement, run the command:
- /wbWelcome the most recent player who joined
- /welcomeSame as /wb
That’s it. The plugin picks a random message from the list for new or returning players, shows it in chat under your name, and runs any reward commands the server has set up.
Good to know:
- You cannot welcome yourself.
- You cannot welcome the same person twice in the same join window.
- If the window has already closed (or the player left), you’ll get a short “expired” message.
- If a player disconnects and reconnects very quickly, the welcome window is often skipped to stop spam.
The exact messages and rewards are set by the server. Typical defaults look like this:
| First-time player | Returning player | |
|---|---|---|
| Example message | Welcome %player%! Hope you enjoy your stay | Welcome back %player%! |
| Typical reward | A larger amount (e.g. $100) | A smaller amount (e.g. $50) |
The reward is given by a console command (usually an economy command). Both the person who is welcomed and the people who welcome them can receive rewards, depending on how the server configured the commands.
There is also a limit on how many welcome messages are shown in chat for one join. Extra welcomes after that limit still count for rewards, but stay silent so the chat doesn’t get flooded.
These are the usual defaults. Your server may have changed them.
| Default | |
|---|---|
| Welcome window | 15 seconds after a player joins |
| Quick-rejoin protection | If someone leaves and rejoins within 30 seconds, no welcome window is opened |
| Message display limit | Unlimited by default (−1). Servers can set a number so only the first few welcomes appear in chat |
Once the 15-second window ends, or the joining player leaves, further /wb attempts will simply tell you the welcome party has expired.
- /wbWelcome the most recent player who joined
- /welcomeSame as /wb
No special permission is required — every player can use the command.
- Keep an eye on chat when someone joins — the welcome window is short.
- Welcoming new players is a nice way to make the server feel friendly and can earn you a small reward.
- You only need to type the command once per joining player; repeating it won’t do anything extra.
- If you miss the window, just wait for the next person who joins.
